Yangon Region government submitted a report to Region Hluwttaw to introduce a multipurpose terminal port project on June 5, 2018.
According to the report, that port project will be implemented in the Kawhnu Township, Ta Yet Taw Village and Tawgalu village, Kuin Chan Gone Township, Yangon which are constituency of National consultant Daw Aung San Su Kyi.
The current Yangon port and Thilawar Port are limit its performance. Because of that the government constructed again a new port, expressed in government report.
This report was read and presented by U Zaw Aye Maung, Rakhaing Ethnic minister, Yangon region. Regarding with this the region’s MP made discussion on June 8 to 11.
“1,053 Land Acre was appropriated to construct the Multipurpose Terminal and 500 Land Acres was appropriated to implement as the first phase project and the length of the river port is 2.2 Kilometer long,” according to the Minister.
“There were MPs who opposed when the project was proposed. The project area is located in Lower plains and the land has been the flood’s victims while Nagit Cyclone hit in 2008,” said U Kyaw Kyaw Tun, Region MPs from the Hlaing Constituency.
